Welcome to King's Lynn Triathlon Club's Sunny Hunny Triathlon

(Registration is OPEN)

Our spectator-friendly race involves a 200m pool swim at Alive Oasis, a looped 18km (3 x 6km) cycle around Hunstanton town centre and a 3.5km run to the St Edmunds gardens near the lighthouse, and back to finish on the green. The race is chip-timed and the route is fully signed and marshalled, making it a great event for novices aged 15+ by the end of the year, but it also has enough challenge for the more seasoned triathlete too.

A full race manual with swim start times will be emailed out to all competitor as soon as possible after entries have closed, but you can have a look at a previous year's manual here. In additionto the race manual, all competitors should be familiar with BTF's latest competition rules which are available on their website here.

Latest updates can be found on the race's facebook page, or you can email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We look forward to seeing you on the 14th

Swim (200m)

Set off at regular intervals, swimmers will complete 8 x 25m lengths before exiting the pool via the steps and out in to transition.

Lifeguards will be present and you can swim any srtoke except backstroke. You will be given your swim start time at registration, based on the time you submitted during event signup. If you would like to amend you time, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before the 31st May.

Bike (18km)

Any type of bike is allowed, so long as it is in a roadworthy condition and has working brakes.

This event is NOT draft legal. If you want to know the latest rules on drafting, take a look at them on the BTF website here. The mount/dismount line will be located on Seagate road and you will cycle to the roundabout at the bottom of Oasis Way then complete 3 laps of the town, before returning back along Seagate Road to transition. The route will be fully signed on the day and marshals will be present at most junctionsThe bike route is pretty simple, but you can find a .gpx file below, and there is a strava course available on Strava. You don't need to have a Strava account to view the course. If you are worried about doing too few or too many loops, just remember you need to go up the hill three times.

Run (3.5km)

Once your bike is racked, you will head back out of transition and North along the promenade, up the zig-zag path and along the clifftop path towards the lighthouse. Unortunately, you won't have time to fully admire the St Edmunds Chapel ruins as you run back through the gardens to finish in front of your adoring fans waiting on the green by the bandstand. The route is a mix of tarmac and grass, but will be signed and marshalled on the morning of the race so you are unlikely to get lost.

Registration & Race Briefing

Registration for the event will be in Alive Oasis. You are encouraged to register on Sat 13th, when you can pick up your race pack and ask any last-minute questions. This will also give you more time to set up your transition in the morning. If you are a member of the BTF, please remember to bring proof of membership otherwise you will need to purchase a day race licence during registration.

The race briefing is mandatory for ALL competitors and is a chance for the race director to inform you of any changes from the race manual, such as any new hazards or last-minute changes to a route. The race briefing will take place in transition.

Spectators

There is a small spectator area overlooking transition and when you head out on the bike, your support can have an easy walk to the green in plenty time to see you come past on your first lap of the 3 lap bike course. They can then walk to the bottom of the green to cheer you on at the start of your run, and again at the finish.

Changing Facilities

Alive Oasis has ample toilet and changing facilities. You will be allowed to use the lockers and return to have a shower after the race.

Transition

Secure transition is in the skating rink next to the pool and only competitors and race officials will be allowed in. There is a small spectator area overlooking the rink that will be open to friends and family.

THERE IS A NO-RUNNING POLICY IN TRANSITION DUE TO SPACE AND SURFACE. ANYONE RUNNING DURING T1 and T2 WILL RECEIVE A PENALTY

Access will be through gate on Seagate Road and marshalls will inspect your bike and helmet before being allowed to rack. Marshalls are not allowed to fix any problems for you but last year we had a bike mechanic from Richardsons Cycles on hand during both registration sessions that may be able to help (TBC for 2020). Space is VERY limited in transition and bags are not allowed to be kept next to your bike, so please keep your kit to a minimum.

Transition will be closed during the race, meaning you cannot remove your bike until the last competitor is out on their run.

Parking

There is on-street parking around Hunstanton, but many have time limits and there is a large pay carpark on Beach Terrace Rd only meters away from transition.

Parking charges are enforced on Sundays and parking attendants are very vigilant.

The postcode for satnavs is PE36 5AR. Full details of Southend car park can be found here.
